Unable to complete a recast of my loan!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I deposited $80,000 on October 14, 2025 to recast my loan with NewRez. Since then, Ive been given contradictory and misleading information by multiple representatives.

One told me the recast was complete, but my account still shows the old payment. The automated system says its finished, while agents say its still pending. I was told to pay a $250 fee, but no one could explain clearly how.

A supervisor promised a DocuSign email that never arrived. Weeks later, I was told to expect a mailed acknowledgment instead.

False late payment warnings.

Keeps saying I have missed a payment, when the bank has been electronically paying them automatically BEFORE the due date. I have a very high credit rating and do not want to see it ruined over their incompetence.

Absolutely non-existent customer service. Tried calling in three times and no one can answer question. They keep bouncing me around to teams that have already transferred me.

Have an insurance check for water damage. The bank told me specifically, 'Do not sign the check before mailing it in to them for their stamp.' Trying to find out if I can send it in without signing it, but I can't get an answer. Reason: it's off the script their customer service reps use, so they don't know what to tell you.

Preferred solution: An answer to my question about having to sign an insurance check BEFORE mailing it to them for their stamp

Discrimination

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

As a disabled veteran, this company has done nothing but act in contempt toward me. They answer the phone with a script saying "thank you for your sacrifice to our country" then proceed to spite me and ignore my requests.

They purchased our loan from Armed Forces Bank then 'accidently' restructured it adding in property taxes when I am exempt.

They will not let me delete/opt-out of escrow and their system 'wont let them fix the problem' for several months - causing a significant financial hardship.

My monthly mortgage is going up $800 for taxes that will not be owed. All they had to say was 'sorry for the inconvenience'.

I have submitted a complaint for discrimination against them.

It’s not discrimination, it’s a misunderstanding. You need to learn the difference. Get a contact name at your county tax office and give it to the new lender to verify.

Newrez’s tax department has confirmed my tax exemption from the county. Newrez’s escrow department won’t update the tax line.

I can’t get the two departments to talk and someone is blocking it from being fixed. It’s discrimination.

No, it’s not discrimination. It’s an internal issue at the mortgage company where there is a lack of communication and synergy.

Not getting your way or the result you expect by your time frame doesn’t qualify as discrimination simply because you have a disability. Discrimination would be not offering you a mortgage because you are disabled. My municipality can’t find volunteer firefighters. As incentive, they waive their city property tax.

Most all banks have no idea how this works and it takes time to coordinate.

Their certainly isn’t discrimination here. You do a disservice to yourself and others whose rights are protected in the face of TRUE cases of discrimination.

Keep repeating your opinion, but it doesn’t change facts, it’s discrimination.

They have ruined my credit in the credit bureau - said they would correc

My area as of Oct. 2024 required flood. I contacted them and they were to do research and get back to me. I never heard back; instead, they forced the flood via escrow and charged me a horrendous amount. I paid the insurance in full directly with my company and, in order to take escrow off, I had to pay an additional 700 dollars for a 30-day coverage.

I am still asking for an explanation while at the same time they took my monthly payments and set them aside - all on their own - with no notice to me explaining that. It caused my payments to show late and now I cannot get the HELOC I was applying for.

I have called every month for the last 5 months and still not one person can explain. They forced me to make payments for something that I have not been given an answer to. There has to be a regulating board for this, but I cannot find whom to call.

I am a retired loan officer/underwriter and I have never encountered such incompetency in this industry. The servicing of the loan is whatever they want it to be. That has to be a consumer abuse situation. My loan started with First Commonwealth and has been sold 4 times in 7 years.

Dont apply payments, terrible customer service, autopay never pays.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Newrez was a terrible servicing company to deal with. Upon my mortgage being sold to them, I set up auto pay and the very first month I received notice that my funds were not being withdrawn.

I had to call in and pay manually. No matter how many times I authorized auto pay, it never worked. Getting ahold of someone for any reason other than making a payment impossible. This company was so terrible I decided to pay my mortgage off.

Upon requesting the pay off they added on over $5000 in fees prior to the pay off. Once the account was closed, I was SHOCKED to learn that my homeowners insurance does not get prorated and they said I would not get that back.

I used two months of insurance and ate 10 months of unused insurance. Working in the real estate industry, I will do all I can to make sure people dont get aligned with this company.

Incompetent people at newrez

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My name is Adam and i have had nothing but issues with newrez. My father passed away 1 year ago and I am the sole executor to his estate.

I have been trying to get this account attached to my name for almost a year now. Everything has gone through probate. I have been sending and resubmitting all of the correct documents, death certificate, will, all documents from the attorneys and everything they ask for over and over for the past several months. I have been paying the mortgage loan for the past year and they have very happily been taking my money.

These incompetent people cannot seem to do thier job with every excuse under the sun. Between phonecalls and numerous emails they still cant seem to do thier job. One person says im not authorized to talk to them even though they see im listed as the executor... the next person will say they dont have the proper documentation the next person will say thats not thier department.

Everyone there has had an excuse of some sort. Today i talked to brandi b. who when i called them said she was trying to collect a debt... im all paid and current for the loan...

so i asked for a supervisor and got celest o. Who said there was nothing she could do for me so i asked for the next supervisor and just got a voicemail for paul carrion? For the better part of a year i have been paying this loan and have also been paying a homeowners policy separately since they would not attach it to the loan but they have been happily charging me.

A "hazard insurance fee" so i definitely expect a full refund on that as well since i have all the documentation for the last year proving ive paid that separately and that these incompetent people were just too lazy to do thier job and address the account. Avoid this company at all costs.

Incorrect 1098 and can't get anyone to help fix it

My 1098 for 2024 is incorrect. The loan points are not reflected on my 1098.

I have called multiple times, emailed, and even faxed a detailed letter with copies of my closing statement. Over a month of waiting, and I get a letter saying to 'reach out to my tax advisor on amounts from closing to report to the IRS.' What? I work for an accounting firm, my 'tax advisor' (CPA) is someone I see multiple times a day. I need a corrected 1098 so I can file my taxes.

I've told numerous people that if I report my closing points and they don't correct their side, it will bounce back! Why is it so hard to fix their mistake?

Our firm has to do it daily for our clients! And I can't get in touch with an actual person who can do anything about the issue.

Resolved: Holding Escrow Funds Hostage

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Jan 06, 2025

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. Analysis completed and check issued.

Original review Dec 30, 2024
I've been trying for over a month to have my escrow reanalyzed because our property tax situation has changed. I was told it would take 7-10 days with a deadline of December 17th.

On December 17th, I inquired again and they still proceeded to give me the runaround. I have over $5000 in escrow after yearly taxes and insurance have been paid, and I can't seem to get anyone knowledgeable to give me straight answers.

Not only is my money being held hostage, but I also have to pay an additional $500 a month for my escrow account until they get this situation straightened out. I suggest you use a more honest company to get a mortgage through.

In April 2024, my monthly mortgage amount increased. I contacted my services & asked why the increase of almost $500/month, they explained it was due to property taxes & suggested I make an escrow only payment, which I did, & request an escrow review in order to lower my monthly mortgage payment.

I did all of that, over the phone, in writing, through chat with customer service, 19 times since April 2024.

Not only was I given the run around, they claimed it was in process for at least 7 months, they have still as of January 2025 yet to complete the escrow review that I requested & have again increased my monthly mortgage payment.

My property taxes are $6315, my insurance is $1170 & my monthly escrow payment is $983.97, which ends up being $11,807.64 a year. This is $4,322.64 over the total of my property tax & insurance.
